Low cost Central Pennsylvania health insurance plans are very affordable.
Individuals, families, the self employed and the uninsured can easily find cheap health insurance plans in Central Pennsylvania.
Low cost Central Pennsylvania health insurance plans are available from most of the top health insurers such as Aetna, UnitedHealthCare, Capital Blue Cross, HealthAmerica, Highmark Blue Shield and Assurant. And many of these low cost plans include benefits you might not expect, such as office visit copays, prescription copays, preventive coverages that are not subject to a deductible and optional riders for dental and vision coverage.
Whether you are an individual, family, self employed, or uninsured, there are many affordable medical plans that will save you money. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are also a popular option that will minimize premiums and allow you to pay for portions of your health care with tax-free dollars.
Central Pennsylvania health insurance rates tend to be lower than most other parts of the state. Affordable coverage can be purchased online from reputable brokers at rates that are the same as purchasing a policy directly from the carriers. For example, a healthy 35 year-old male will only pay $87 per month for an Aetna PPO 5000 plan, which provides copays on office visits and most prescriptions. A high deductible catastrophic plan from HealthAmerica would cost about $60 per month and include preventive benefits that would not be subject to a deductible.
Two popular and affordable plans are Aetna’s PPO 5000 plan (previously mentioned) and the HealthAmerica HealthGear plan.
HealthAmerica’s HealthGear plan is a very popular low cost Central Pennsylvania option. Deductible options range from $2,500 to $5,000 and premiums are among the lowest in the state. Once the deductible has been met, office visits (primary care & specialist), prescriptions, lab services, x-rays, hospital services and may other benefits are provided. Many preventive coverages are not subject to the deductible, such as gynecological exams, well child visits, adult physicals and routine mammograms.
Aetna’s PPO 5000 plan is one of the least expensive comprehensive copay medical plans available to individuals and families. Covered office visits are subject to a copay only ($40 for general physician & $50 for a specialist) and there is no cap on the number of allowed visits per year. Generic and brand name prescriptions are covered, subject to applicable copays and deductibles.
Preventive benefits are comprehensive with little or no copay. The lifetime maximum is a generous $5 million although recent health care reform will ultimately eliminate all lifetime maximums.
Alternatively, short-term health insurance plans will also feature extremely low premiums. Benefits are mainly catastrophic, although a few companies will offer limited office visit and prescription coverage. This type of plan is ideal if you live in Central Pennsylvania and are unemployed, between jobs, a graduating student, on COBRA or waiting for Medicare benefits to begin. And typically, short-term plans are approved within 48 hours. However, pre-existing conditions are generally not covered and this type of policy can not be renewed beyond 6-12 months (with rare exceptions).
Central Pennsylvania Health Insurance Rates are not as expensive as you may think. You just need to look in the right places!
